In 2020, the Amateurs opened for the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular in New York’s Radio City Music Hall. Regularly competing in ICCA, the Amtateurs' was awarded for Outstanding Arrangement, Outstanding Soloist, and Outstanding Choreography, winning them 1st place at ICCA Quarterfinals and 2nd place at ICCA Midwest Semifinals. Additionally, they were awarded Outstanding Soloist at the 2023 ICCA Midwest Quarterfinals and 4th place at the 2023 ICCA Midwest Semifinals. The Amateurs travel across the country to perform and compete in national a cappella festivals, including past performances at Voice Jam, America’s Got Talent, and a cappella reality show, Sing it On! In 2009, the Amateurs were selected to appear on Ben Folds Presents: University A Cappella with their rendition of “The Luckiest,” recorded on WNYC, and opened for Folds on tour in Nashville at the Ryman Auditorium. The Amateurs have released 9 studio albums to date, and have an upcoming album being released this Fall!
The Amateurs love performing on WashU’s campus and in the St. Louis community. Our annual concert, Goin’ Pro, is a highly anticipated campus event where we proudly showcase our hard work and welcome back alumni. And no matter what they do, the Amateurs stay true to their motto: “Do it because you love it.” The Amateurs are a group of committed musicians who are, first and foremost, a group of friends. The Amateurs sing for the sake of singing, and have become a family that is truly a home away from home.
